Finding myself

Maybe it’s the stress and pressure of being a youth adults.

Maybe because I live in a society of high fliers. A society that expects you to excel.

Sometimes I just feel so lost and aimless when it seems like everyone around me knows what they want to do and exactly how to accomplish their goals.

Yet, there’s me: Just going with the flow.

I want to spend some time to discover myself. Find out what I am passionate about, what makes me smile and who I want to become.

I hope I will do.

Until then, just be happy.

HG Foundation that I will always repurchase

Hi everybody! It’s Asteria!

In case you do not know, HG makeup actually stands for Holy Grail makeup. It basically refers to those products that I absolutely adore and it’s a term widely used in the beauty guru scene. I am thinking of starting a series where I just introduce the makeup that I love.

For starters, I have dry-combination skin (mostly more oily at the T-zone). And because of this, I actually prefer those oil-controlling/ mattifying makeup rather than those that claim to give you a dewy finish.

I’m a big fan of Tarte products and don’t be surprised if I feature them quite abit throughout my blog. Tarte cosmetics specialize in good-for-you glamour, makeup and beauty products that are eco-friendly and cruelty-free. Not just that, Tarte is also well known for being free of parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, sodium lauryl sulfate, triclosan, synthetic fragrances and gluten, etc.

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Full Coverage Foundation in Light Sand

I cannot stop raving about this foundation. I simply love how this foundation wears on me. Maybe it had something to do with the Amazonian Clay in the foundation, but I just feel like the foundation looks better as the day passes. True to its name, the foundation does have a very good wear and it just does not budge the tiniest bit even after an entire day of wearing this. But of course, I continue my usual routine of setting my makeup with a setting spray and translucent powder.

In addition, I love how this feels so lightweight despite being a full coverage foundation.

Ever wonder how celebrities achieve that flawless look? Their secret lies in a really good full coverage foundation that covers up their imperfections immaculately. And, Tarte’s amazonian clay foundation is the one I always go for.

Up next, Laneige BB Cushion!

Laneige Pore Control BB Cushion in No. 21

This is yet another one of my favourite and must-have foundation. I absolutely love how light weight it is and the nice glow it just adds to my skin. This is great for that “no make up, make up looks”!

As I’m still in college right now, I will always dab this on my face before rushing out of my dorm to class. It instantly brightens up my skin, making me look more refresh and ready for the day (: The skincare benefits and SPF 50 PA+++ are just additional bonus that I too enjoy.

Dr. G Gowoonsesang BB Cream

This BB cream was actually the first I ever owned and I just love it so much I keep repurchasing it! I still remember the day my mummy brought me to SaSa and asked the sales assistant to recommend a BB cream for a make up newbie like me.

The Koreans are really great at their craft and I really do love Korean Skincare and Makeup. This BB cream is great at evening out your skintone, giving you flawlessly looking skin without being too cakey and you can barely feel it on your skin too!

And there you have it, my top three recommendation for foundation/ base makeup.

My thoughts: Dan Brown’s Inferno

Image: DAn Brown's "Inferno"

Once again, Mr Brown came back to us with yet another suspense-packed novel featuring Prof Robert Langdon.

I have nothing but praises for this novel as it left me hanging on every single word, unwilling to put down the book until I finally finished it. And sure enough, I stayed up till 2am last night just to reach page 611, widely amazed by the multitudes of twists Brown had cleverly weaved into the story.

The front portion of the novel is much like its predecessors in the series, filled with the mysteries of symbology and art history. That just made me want to find out more about Dante’s Florence and his inspirations for the great works he produced then. To be honest, I was quite petrified by the vivid description of Dante’s 9 circles of hell and the fact that I started the book late at night simply did not help. However, it was precisely because of Brown’s detailed description and analysis of Dante’s work that made me want to continue reading and find out how Langdon skillfully navigated himself out of the mess he woke up to.

The story then continues into very well orchestra-ed chase of Langdon and his  latest female companion all around Florence, Italy, then Venice and finally Istanbul. The whole chase was filled with suspense and even more mystery surrounding Dante’s Divine Comedy and his life work. In fact, I think I might actually want to get a copy of that and start reading it as well!

The antagonist of this novel is none other than Bertrand Zobrist, a well known leader of the trans-humanitarian movement as stated in the book. I love how Brown was able to cleverly explore areas of religion and science in all his novels. This novel was particularly a thought provoking read for me as I was very much into science and biology in my high school days. I was brought back to my schooling days and started to ponder deeply about how overpopulation was indeed a very serious problem and the world has yet to fully grasp. Nonetheless, I do not endorse Zobrist’s methods. Primum non nocere.

All in all, I do highly recommend Inferno to anyone who’s looking for a thrill-packed, action novel that is just as good as a summer movie boxoffice hit (:

First.

Hello everybody!

My name is Asteria, and today I decided to start a blog.

And my oh my, it is seriously not an easy feat! There’s just so much details to figure out and I have spent a good one or two hours trying to do that!

I am not exactly sure which direction I want my blog to take but be sure to expect beauty and fashion posts, perhaps some book reviews and tidbits from my life.

Thank you for following me on this rollercoaster ride!
